• magnus does not have amensia but is, unfortunately, a lower-class lower-level worker and pretty mad tbh
• he still has his magic but is leery of using it when he's not sure where they are and what that might mean.
• because of the time period, and his ethnic background he is dealing with not only classicism but abject racism.
